AccuWeather has issued an update to their weather app for Android devices to increase the use of Google’s Material design guidelines. When we reviewed AccuWeather along with other top weather apps for Android this past year, we found the design incorporated some Material concepts. This latest update ups the ante though with even cleaner lines, color and icons. Users may particularly note that the layout now includes more “cards” to display pieces of information than what the app used in the past.
Despite the updated look, there are some grumblings in the reviews section of the Play Store suggesting features have been compromised, especially when it comes to available widgets. Typically, major updates to apps come with some gripes and there could be a minor bug fix update issued in the next couple days to address some problems like location issues.
