The BlackBerry Camera app just received an update on the Play Store. The updated version is 1.0.0.3605.
Instead of rolling out a software update which must go through carriers, BlackBerry has taken a different route. By having the BlackBerry Camera download on the Play Store, it’s much easier to roll out updates. Users don’t have to wait on their carrier and instead just update the app just like they would do to any regular Play Store application.
The update brings a few improvements which are said to speed up performance. The auto focusing now has improved accuracy and feels a bit faster. Additionally, BlackBerry has added the ability to shoot in 16:9 aspect ratio, which was previously not possible. BlackBerry also added some minor adjustments to HDR shots, which will now alert you in low-light scenes.
The latest version of BlackBerry’s Camera application is up right now and will replace the current app on your BlackBerry Priv.
