If you’re a loyal Counter Strike: Global Offensive player and have installed a plethora of Chrome extensions that claim to alter your in-game theme and increase your chances of winning gambling matches, you may want to listen up as it turns out the majority of these add-ons simply wipe your Steam inventory dry.
Fortunately, the extensions can’t access any games you’ve purchased and regift them, nor can they obtain your payment information, but they can transfer any rare virtual objects that you’ve spent endless hours obtaining to a single Steam account. It’s likely that these items are then exchanged for cash with die-hard players all over the world.
Google is fully aware of the issue and has pulled all extensions that have been reported as being involved in the scam. However, it can’t guarantee that more won’t pop up over the coming weeks, so be weary of what you’re installing. If you do happen to have a malicious add-on installed on your computer, you can easily remove it by heading into Chrome’s settings.
