T-Mobile’s Binge On adds 14 new video providers, Legere fights back on throttling claims

T-Mobile announced in a blog post today that the carrier is adding 14 new video services to its Binge On program just two months after launching the program.

Those that are eligible for T-Mobile’s new Binge On program will get to stream from these additional 14 services without using any data. The services added include PlayStation Vue, Lifetime Movie Club, A&E, Lifetime, HISTORY, Tennis Channel Anywhere, ODK Media, FuboTV, Kidoodle TV, FYI, Fandor, Newsy and Curiosity Stream.

T-Mobile has thus far seen great success with its Binge On program, citing that “one major streaming service alone has seen daily viewers spike 66%.” Not only that, but T-Mobile says Binge On customers are watching video 23% longer than normal.

Outspoken T-Mobile CEO John Legere also took a moment to defend its Binge On program from throttling claims. YouTube has claimed T-Mobile throttles video streaming in the past, and the carrier has responded to these claims, but Legere wants to set things straight once and for all:

“There are people out there saying we’re “throttling.” They’re playing semantics! Binge On does NOT permanently slow down data nor remove customer control,” Legere said in a blog post on Thursday. He goes into more detail in the video above as well as in his post here.

Whether T-Mobile is throttling or not, it’s safe to say that the carrier’s Binge On program has been a huge success and is garnering the kind of attention Legere wants to see.
