It’s beginning to look like the Hamburger menu button will come to the Settings app in the next version of Android, rumored to be Android N.
The menu icon was originally seen on a post over on a post at the Android Developers Blog that detailed version 23.2 of the Android Support Library. Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii later confirmed that, yes, the Hamburger-style menu will make an appearance in Android N.
Rumors are starting to ramp up surrounding Android N as we get closer to Google I/O 2016. Google’s Hiroshi Lockheimer last year at Google I/O revealed that the search giant has moved to a “yearly cadence of big releases,” indicating that we’ll see a new version of Android on a yearly basis.
Google I/O 2016 is scheduled to start on May 18, where we’re expecting to hear the news of the next version of Android.
There are some other, initial rumors indicating that Android N will ditch the app drawer.
What would you like to see in Android N?
