Just because today is the official launch day for Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets doesn’t mean that there isn’t time for yet another leak. While we’ve previously seen renders, images of the actual handsets, and had sources talk about how Samsung has cleaned up TouchWiz for its latest flagships, now we have leaked images of the retail packaging for the S7 Edge that also confirms a couple of specifications. Thanks to the images posted by SamsungViet, we can see that the retail packaging for the Samsung S7 Edge (and presumably the standard S7) consists of a black coloured cardboard with silver embossing. It reminds me a little of the box that the Galaxy S2 arrived in all those years ago, except that the S7 Edge box has silver, and not gold, embossing. According to the box, the handset contained has 32GB of internal storage and is a Gold Platinum colour.
This is where it gets more interesting, because the back of the box lists some of the featured specifications, including:
- 5.5-Inch Quad HD Super-AMOLED display (139.5mm)
- 64-bit Octa-Core processor (note how it doesn’t state if it’s the Snapdragon 820 or the Exynos 8890 processor)
- 4GB RAM
- 32GB Internal storage
- Dual Pixel 12MP rear camera
- 5MP front camera
- 4G LTE
- IP68 Water and dust resistance
- Wireless charging (charging pad needed)
- Knox protection
Needless to say, that isn’t a full list of specifications, unfortunately, it doesn’t mention MicroSD cards (which Samsung is believed to have brought back), nor does it confirm the battery capacity that is rumoured to be 3,600mAh.
Don’t forget, MWC 2016 is about to get into full swing (here is the list of events set to go down), with LG and Huawei first in the line-up, ZTE shortly after, and then Samsung following up a short time after that with its Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets. So stick with Talk Android for all the latest out of Barcelona!
