LG will have lots of products to showcase at MWC 2016 including the G5 flagship smartphone and the new ‘X-series.’ However, the sum of people who were excited to learn about LG’s rumored wireless payment service may feel a bit bummed out, because it seems that LG will skip it at MWC 2016.
LG has been preparing a wireless payment service of its own called ‘LG Pay‘ for quite some time now. However, the announcement of the G5 and ‘X-series’ will reportedly be enough for one event. The payment service would be going up against some tough competition in that of Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Apple Pay, which have all established a place in the market already. We’re unsure if LG is scrapping the project completely or just gathering some more time to prepare for a launch.
Skipping LG Pay is perfectly understanding to us because of the struggle LG has been experiencing in mobile sales. After losses with the G4, LG wants to make sure it gives consumers a good reason to buy its new G5 and hopefully spark a turnaround. This will be LG’s priority for MWC 2016. Hopefully we’ll find out more about the announced ‘LG Pay’ service down the road.
