4chan founder Chris Poole now works for Google

4chan creator Chris Poole, also known online as “Moot”, has been hired by Google to help the company develop its social products and services.

According to Poole’s personal blog, the tech wizard has found himself drawn to Google’s ‘intelligence, passion and enthusiasm’, as well as ‘a universal desire to share it with others’.

In a blog post titled ‘My Next Chapter’, the 4chan head of old wrote:”Today I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined Google.”

He continued:

“I’m also impressed by Google’s commitment to enabling these same talented people to tackle some of the world’s most interesting and important problems. I can’t wait to contribute my own experience from a dozen years of building online communities, and to begin the next chapter of my career at such an incredible company.”

Poole left his post at the controversial chat site 4chan just last year, and now looks to be starting a new journey ‘building online communities’ with the folk over at Google HQ. He impressively founded the website when he was just 15 years old, running it for over 11 years before moving on to take on new challenges.

Of course, 4chan has hit the headlines plenty of times in the past for all the wrong reasons, perhaps best known for the number of leaked naked pictures of celebrities uploaded to the website back in 2014.

Google’s own engineer Bradley Horowitz reacted to the announcement of Poole’s arrival over on his Google Plus page, admitting he’s ‘thrilled’ that Chris is joining the team.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on Google, keen to see what it is Horowitz and Poole will be cooking up when it comes to the future of social media.
