Sony’s PlayStation brand has been synonymous with gaming for more than two decades. The Japanese company pushed out four major video game consoles with additional handheld gaming consoles throughout the years to be home for a massive amount of first-party titles known around the world. Now, with PlayStation getting involved in virtual reality later this year, Sony wants the brand to continue entering new territories.

Today, Sony announced that characters from your favorite PlayStation games will be making appearances on mobile devices. A new studio known as ForwardWorks is tasked solely with bringing PlayStation favorites to phones and tablets.

Here’s what Sony says about ForwardWorks purpose:

ForwardWorks will leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters as well as the knowledge and know-how of gaming development expertise which was acquired over the years with PlayStation business to provide gaming application optimized for smart devices including smartphones* to users in Japan and Asia. The company will aim to deliver users with opportunity to casually enjoy full-fledged game titles in the new filed of the smart device market.

So it’s very likely that we see franchises like Jak and DaxterLittleBigPlanetGod of War, and Uncharted get new releases on mobile devices.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Sony make a play for mobile devices, though. In 2012, Sony launched PlayStation Mobile as a program to get a new wave of games on Sony and other PlayStation-certified Android devices. Less than two years later, Sony stopped supporting the program and pulled the plug on PlayStation Mobile last summer.

ForwardWorks will open on April 1 with an office based in Tokyo.
