This year’s Nexus phone is still up in the air, but if a recent rumor is true, it looks like HTC might have secured a deal to make the device this year and for the next couple years, too. Take this with a grain of salt, because these Nexus rumors have gotten kind of outlandish before. With that being said, HTC and Google originally collaborating to bring the Nexus line to life with the classic Nexus One, and more recently the Nexus 9 tablet.
This rumor suggests that HTC will be responsible for making the Nexus line of phones over the next three years, which also suggests that Google has no intention of doing away with the program anytime soon. We’ve heard a few different stories about the fate of the Nexus program over the past few years, so this is good news for those of us that like buying phones directly from Google.
This is one of the most interesting Nexus rumors we’ve heard in awhile, so keep it in mind as we get closer to the time when the Nexus lineup typically gets refreshed.
