The performance update that the Nexus 5X got alongside the March security patch is now rolling out to the Nexus 6P, according to a Google employee who also acts as a community manager on Reddit’s Nexus 6P subreddit.
Google published details on the March security update only days ago. And only a day later, it was discovered that the OTA rolling out to the Nexus 5X went beyond just some security patches. There aren’t really any extra features that come with it, but it fixes a whole lot of performance issues users have been experiencing, making the handset slicker than ever.
This same update is now rolling out to the Nexus 6P. After installing the update on the Nexus 6P, you should see build number MHC19I.
As far as specifics go, there’s a lot of general performance fixes, but also a patch to the smartphone’s alarm system, Wi-Fi and other connectivity problems, as well as some fixes for more carrier-specific problems.
If you haven’t gotten the prompt to download the update yet, you can try and check for it manually in Settings > About Phone. If that doesn’t work, you’ll probably have to sit tight for a little while. But no worries, the update is on its way!
