Samsung has begun rolling out Android 6.0.1 to Unlocked Galaxy S5 variants in South Korea operating on a Korean-based carrier’s network known as LG UPlus, according to a report from SamMobile.
The model number receiving this update is SM-G900L. But, it shouldn’t be long before Samsung and other carriers have the update ready for their corresponding Galaxy S5 models.
By now, you’re probably used to seeing what Marshmallow brings. But in case you haven’t, this update brings things like App Permissions, an internal battery saving feature called Doze, Google Now on Tap, a lot of under the hood performance updates, and much more.
Whether in South Korea or in the US, updates like these do take time to get to everyone. The reason is because the manufacturer and/or carrier rolls out the update to 1% of users to ensure there aren’t any bugs that renders everyone’s handset useless. Once they see everything is fine, they’ll add more users to that pool until everyone finally has the update.
If you haven’t gotten the prompt to download it yet, you can check for it manually in Settings > About Phone.
