Returning for the fourth consecutive year is LG’s Knock On, a feature that allows you to turn your device’s screen on and off by tapping display. It debuted with the G2 in 2013 and has only evolved since. The company’s 2016 flagship comes with the familiar Knock Code, which is a layer of security built on top of Knock On. Knock Code keeps your device locked until you tap specific areas of the display in a preset order. So, like Knock On, it’s simple in that you’re just tapping the display. The security part of it is in the pattern.
Hit the break to see Knock Code in action on the LG G5.
- Go to Settings and then Display
- Choose Lock screen
- Find Select screen lock and select Knock Code
- You’ll be asked if you want to require Knock Code even when powering on the device
- LG’s Knock Code needs a pattern of at least six taps in three different quarters of the display, so keep that in mind
- Enter your Knock Code and repeat it confirm
