While the quality and reliability of our phone calls may seem an afterthought to many of us, running into a poor experience with a phone call is a maddening affair. Luckily, for those of you on the T-Mobile network, poor call quality and dropped calls may soon be a thing of the past. Today T-Mobile has launched Enhanced Voice Services for some of the newest flagships on the market.
According to T-Mobile, Enhanced Voice Services, EVS for short, “is a true next-gen voice technology that delivers some incredibly cool benefits to our customers.” These benefits include:
- Improved voice call reliability in areas of weaker signal. While dropped calls over LTE are a rare phenomenon, this will become even more rare.
- Thanks to a broader audio frequency range, EVS provides higher-fidelity calls compared to HD voice. Your calls will now sound richer and more realistic then they were before.
- No matter if you are on Wi-Fi or the T-Mobile network your call will work with these new enhanced features.
What is even more awesome about this cool new technology is that T-Mobile customers, with an EVS-capable device, who call someone without an EVS-capable device will still be able to enjoy all the benefits of this new EVS technology during that call.
The one caveat here is that this EVS technology will only work for T-Mobile customers that have a compatible device. Right now the selection is extremely limited with the brand new LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 as the only two phones that support the new tech. T-Mobile did state that they are working to have this new EVS tech on 7 different smartphones by the end of the year, however they did not specify which phones would comprise the seven.
T-Mobile claims that “the Un-carrier™ never settles. If there’s a better way, we’ll find it. If none exists, we’ll build it,” and with innovative new technologies like this being released it is becoming hard to disagree.
