Unlockable bootloaders are at high desire for many Android users out there. After seeing Samsung bypass it with the Galaxy S7, we began to realize just how big of a deal it really is. We followed up with good news at the beginning of April confirming that the bootloader on T-Mobile LG G5 units were indeed unlockable.
At this time, you may be wondering whether or not the new HTC 10 features an unlockable bootloader. Well, if you’re planning on buying the unlocked variant of the handset, you’re in the clear!
The news comes from Jeff Gordon, who posted on his Twitter page. Despite recent moves going against unlockable bootloaders, HTC has decided to keep it. This means that rooting the HTC 10 will work so long as you know the process to it. This opens up the HTC 10 to a whole lot more when it comes to customization, as you probably know if you’ve looked into this before. Do note that this doesn’t mean all carrier models will sport this capability.
It should be some time before we see the TWRP recovery for this device, especially considering the fact that the handset just released today. However, if you can wait, the HTC 10 is promising.
