Final Fantasy IX for mobile and PC is in development

Square Enix has just announced that in 2016 Final Fantasy will be launched across Android, iOS, and PC. The announcement was for a Japanese launch of the game, but a US release usually isn’t too far behind.

Fans would agree that Final Fantasy IX is the best game in the series, and many have been begging for a mobile remake of the 15-year old original PlayStation classic. With the omitting of backwards compatibility in the newest round of home game consoles, a mobile/PC port is a great way for Square Enix to get players, old and new, entranced in the epic world of Final Fantasy.

What is also great about this news is that this isn’t your average port. This new port will include “high-definition graphics, newly added achievements, auto-save, high speed mode, and several game boosting features,” according to Square Enix.

These new game boosting features will most likely be the same as they were with the remake of Final Fantasy VII, the ability to turn off random encounters completely and the ability to heal all in your party at anytime you so choose.

Square Enix didn’t provide any specific details on availability or how much the game will cost.
