Google will be consolidating Google Ventures into a single global investment fund

google new logoLast year, Google opened up a new arm of Google Ventures in London with an initial $100 million to invest in startups in Europe. Now, less than two years later, Google wants to fold that European branch back into the rest of Google Ventures, which will allow the company to handle investing as one single international effort, instead of multiple efforts based on location.

While Google Ventures has been extremely busy since it started, in Europe only a total of six investments have been made since being opened. That pales in comparison to the 300+ investments that Google has made otherwise, and shows that there might not be enough interest to warrant a totally independent arm of GV in Europe.

The office in London won’t be closed down, but it will share funds with the rest of Google Ventures starting next January.
