Samsung is in the midst of beta testing Android 6.0.1 for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Only select users in South Korea and the United Kingdom are able to test the upcoming software.
Samsung usually does this prior to rolling out an update just to make sure it runs smoothly without any issues. According to a report, Samsung has limited the scrolling speed in apps in attempt to make the interface smoother. Scrolling through documents, applications and web pages was never of the greatest fluency on Samsung devices, which is why many blame the company’s user interface TouchWiz for the troubles.
By reducing the speed in which users can scroll on Android 6.0.1, Samsung believes it will prevent stutters and hiccups throughout the interface thus improving overall performance and stability. If you recall, Samsung told us that it has similar plans for its upcoming Galaxy S7 family. The company said that its primary goal with this iteration is to focus on improving the user interface. This report is a positive sign that Samsung meant what it said and is currently investigating methods on how to speed up and make its interface run smoother. Hopefully the enhancements made will arrive out of the box on the Galaxy S7 models instead of having to wait for a future update. Only time will tell.
Remember that the software update is still in beta, so things could change between now and the official rollout. For a closer look at what we mean, check out the embedded video down below, courtesy of SamMobile.
