ASUS demonstrates new Chromebook and Brillo Hub at CES 2016

The Chromebook market is getting increasingly crowded from new offerings, but ASUS was able to introduce something innovative and unique, the Chromebook Flip. Now, the company is trying their hand at it again with the all-new Chromebook C202.

ASUS’ new Chromebook is encased in a rugged, drop-resistant body to help sustain all sorts of abuse. Many gadgets offer this type of durability, but the Chromebook C202 takes things a step further with its modular parts. In the event that the laptop does break, users can easily swap out the battery, keyboard and power socket for new parts.

As far as specs go, an Intel Celeron processor keeps things running smoothly. It has an 11.6-inch 1,366 x 768, 16GB of internal storage and options for 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

ASUS is looking to officially launch the Chromebook in February for $219 or $229 for the 4GB of RAM option.

The company is also demoing an Internet of Things (IoT) hub. ASUS hasn’t provided many details on it, but it is based off of Google’s Brillo platform. ASUS is also demoing some smart home gadgets, which are expected to launch later this year. We imagine ASUS will offer more details on the Brillo Hub around the time those smart home gadgets launch.
