There’s some great news for those of you who don’t like waiting for the OTA to hit your Nexus device. The January security patch can now be downloaded straight from Google via the newest factory images.
There are no groundbreaking changes here, but keeping ahead of new malware out there has been a point of emphasis for Google in recent months. With that being said, the Android version will remain the same, but the version number will change to MMB29P, MMB29S, MMB29O, or MMB29T, depending on the device you’re using.
This latest set of security enhancements is available for the following Nexus devices:
- Nexus 5
- Nexus 5X
- Nexus 6
- Nexus 6P
- Nexus 7
- Nexus 9
- Nexus Player
So if have one of these Nexus devices and you want to be on the latest Android release, head on over and flash this new update! And as always, you can refer to our guide to flashing factory images if you have any questions or need a little extra help. Let us know how the new update works on your device!
