Leaked render shows the design of the upcoming LG G5 from all angles

LG-G5-Render

It’s safe to say that LG’s done a pretty poor job of keeping its upcoming flagship smartphone of 2016 under wraps. We first caught wind of the G5 when the South Korean company sent out invitations to an event it’s holding on Sunday, February 21, then a leaked User Agent profile surfaced online disclosing the handset’s model number, and last week a report was published, together with some purported renders, exhibiting the device featuring an all-metal build and a slide out battery not dissimilar to the BlackBerry Priv’s hardware keyboard.

Now, however, we’ve got our first glimpse at the G5 in its entirety. As you can see in the diagram above, the unit appears to be thinner, taller and significantly wider than all the current devices in the G-series. Measurements on the sketch suggest that this latest handset will measure in at 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2mm, which is significantly larger than the G4, which was 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3mm. There are also some major cosmetic differences when compared to last year’s flagship.

Instead of the traditional rear-facing button arrangement LG previously adopted for the G lineup, the company has positioned the volume rocker to the right-hand side of the unit, which, no doubt, is the explanation for the added thickness. The power button, on the other hand, will remain on the back for easy unlocking. The handset also features a biometric scanner embedded in the power key, much like the Nexus 6P.

Unfortunately, no specifications were supplied with the diagram. But, for now, we can draw our own conclusion about what we expect the G5 to pack with regards to internals based on recent leaks. It looks like we’ll be seeing a 5.6-inch qHD edge-to-edge display, a Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3,00mAh removable Li-Ion battery.

As with all scuttlebutt, we have to take this information with a large pinch of salt until LG provides us with some solid evidence for what it has in store for its next smartphone, but thankfully we don’t have too much longer to wait before we find out – so be sure to keep your browser pointed to Talk Android for all the latest news brought to you as and when it breaks.
