Oculus Touch Controller delayed until the second half of 2016

Oculus Controller

Oculus has announced that it’s delaying the launch of the Touch Controller for its Rift Virtual Reality (VR) headset until the second half of 2016 as it needs more time to perfect the unit as it wants to make it “even more comfortable, reliable, and natural.”

For those unaware of the Touch Controller, it’s a couple of bands that connect to the headset in order to map your hands into VR content. You simply apply the safety straps to your wrist, hold the bands in your hands and you should see them appear in the game you’re playing.

As a result of the delay, pre-orders for the Touch Controller are now expected to go live in March. It’s important to note that this does not affect the launch of the Oculus Rift headset, which remains on schedule and will start shipping in Q1.
