Samsung Galaxy S7 CAD renders posted online

We’ve seem leak after leak with the Galaxy S7, but now we’re seeing some fairly solid CAD renders of the device, according to a new report.

These CAD renders are from “detailed blueprints that case and accessory manufacturers are given ahead of a phone’s launch.” They come from the same leakster that did the same thing with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

If these renders turn out to be true, the Galaxy S7 will have a not-so-surprising similar design to that of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5. The smartphone also seems to be much more compact than the previous year’s model, especially in the camera area. It has much less of a bulge than last time.

uSwitch says the device measures in at 142.5mm x 69.5mm x 7.9mm. It’s also much thicker than last year’s flagship at 6.9mm. The leakster is reporting some of the same specifications we’ve heard in the past, such as that 5.1-inch display.

One important thing to note is that, from the images, Samsung still doesn’t seem to be adopting USB Type-C, which might not necessarily be a bad thing considering that it isn’t widely adopted yet.

There certainly aren’t any shocking design changes here, which isn’t a bad thing at all. The smartphone does look sleeker and more refined than last year, but as far as design goes, companies like Samsung usually slowly evolve their design. That said, don’t expect any major differences from the Galaxy S6 or GS6 Edge.

Samsung is expected to officially take the covers off the Galaxy S7 in late February, around the time MWC 2016 will be underway.
