Xiaomi in the past has seen huge success with its Mi line of flagships. As a result, we’ve seen rumor after rumor on the upcoming Mi 5, which according to a new report could be just around the corner.
Xiaomi co-founder Li Wanqiang took to Weibo to reveal that the Mi 5 is currently in mass production. In the post Wanqiang shared his exuberance for the device and even hinted that consumers could see a launch after the Chinese New Year. That’s sometime after February 8.
The company’s co-founder even went as far as confirming that the device will have a Snapdragon 820 processor, which means Xiaomi won’t be offering its own processor solution for now.
The smartphone is expected to have some powerful specifications, sporting a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, that aforementioned Snapdragon 820 and a massive 3,600mAh battery, according to recent rumors.
We’re not far out from an official launch, but it’ll be interesting to see where Xiaomi offers the Mi 5, especially with rumors that the company could be bringing some of its efforts over to the US.
