Samsung’s Galaxy J7 (2016) gets spotted on benchmark site with specs in tow

While we wait for Samsung to announced the various Galaxy S7 models on February 21st, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that the Korean electronics giant is also in the process of readying other models for production. Yesterday we saw the Galaxy J5 being benchmarked, and today it’s the turn of its higher-specced sibling, the 2016 edition of the Galaxy J7.

This year’s edition of the Galaxy J7 will carry model number SM-J710x, and naturally features some upgraded specifications over the 2015 version. According to GFXBench, the 2016 Galaxy J7 will sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display(up from 720p), and will stick with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor, with the Adreno 405 GPU providing the graphics. There’s 3GB of RAM (up from 1.5GB) on tap for multitasking and 16GB of internal storage, 10GB of which is available for the user.

On to the cameras, and here the J7 features a 12MP rear camera, whilst on the front of the device, there is a 4.8MP camera. The Galaxy J7 (2016) is shown as running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

It would seem that Samsung is sticking with what works in terms of the processor, but the doubling of the RAM from 1.5GB to 3GB should speed up multitasking quite a bit. That being said, with the display’s resolution being bumped up to 1080p, the processor will be made to work a little more.

All in all, though, the Galaxy J7 (2016) would appear to be a decent upgrade from the previous model. Whether or nor it will stand out in the increasingly crowded mid-range segment is another story, though. Let us know your thoughts on the Galaxy J7 (2016) in the comments below.
