T-Mobile is busting Verizon’s proverbial balls

Just as we turned to the new year, Verizon debuted a television advertisement showing Verizon’s colorful balls leading AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile’s. The carrier wanted to show that a RootMetrics study found its network to be ahead of the the competition. T-Mobile, however, isn’t happy with what Verizon is saying.

Team Magenta has now set out to prove Verizon wrong by busting their colorful balls.

T-Mobile is pointing out what’s wrong with Verizon’s ad:

Pop-ups in the ad call out the missing details and facts, including the “fine print” that the Verizon test is up to 12 months old and completely ignores that T-Mobile’s LTE network has literally more than DOUBLED in the last year. It also calls out that the “independent” (but partly paid for by Verizon) tests excluded Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology that handles 40% of T-Mobile’s calls and even ignored T-Mobile’s Extended Range LTE, the Un-carrier’s newest coverage, which goes 2x farther from towers and works 4x better in buildings—among other things.

Not surprisingly, T-Mobile is using this as an opportunity to lure Verizon customers away from the red and into the magenta because simply calling out another carrier isn’t a very Un-carrier thing to do. The new #BallBusterChallenge invites Verizon customers to throughout the United States to compare T-Mobile and Verizon on data speeds, texting, and calls. If Verizon can win two out of three, T-Mobile will shamefully concede defeat by handing over a $100 Visa Prepaid Card. T-Mobile customers can join in on the fun by having a friend tag along. You and that friend, who must be another carrier’s customer, will compare service and declare a winner who receives the same prize.
