T-Mobile preparing update to Simply Prepaid plans

A new image that surfaced via reddit appears to indicate T-Mobile is getting ready to release some updates to their Simply Prepaid plans. Based on the information sources have put together, T-Mobile may be cutting the price a small amount and increasing the options available regarding how much data consumers can add to their plans. Some of the language also indicates some tweaks to how T-Mobile is marketing their Binge On and Music Freedom options.

The image indicates T-Mobile will start offering their new plans on January 24th, in between the launch of the ZTE Avid Plus and the Blackberry Priv devices on their network. The new Simply Prepaid lineup will start at $25 per month versus the current $40 per month price. The plans will come with unlimited talk and text and buyers can then select an appropriate amount of data, up to 10GB, to add to the plan.

Along with the pricing tweaks, T-Mobile also plans to add some features to the Simply Prepaid plans like mobile hotspot, visual voicemail and domestic roaming. Even though these will be T-Mobile plans, the carrier also plans to add “Data Maximizer” and “Music Unlimited” options as well. These names are what is used for MetroPCS’s versions of Binge On and Music Freedom. There is no indication why T-Mobile may want to bring marketing brands over from MetroPCS to their T-Mobile umbrella of services and plans.
