Do you regret not springing for the piece of mind some added device coverage would have given you? Well today might just be your lucky day. Verizon is allowing you to make up for that mistake by allowing all customers, even those without brand new phones, to sign up for one of its device protection plans.
For those of you unfamiliar with Verizon’s protection plans they currently offer four options, all of which you are free to sign up for during the open enrollment period.
At the most basic level is a 12-month extended warranty. This covers all electrical or mechanical malfunctions covered by the basic manufactures warranty for an additional 12 months. What is important to keep in mind here is that this does not cover accidental damage, say a broken screen. It only covers the same damage covered by the manufactures warranty, so that caused by the device itself malfunctioning. This plan will run you around $3 a month.
Next up is Wireless Phone Protection. This tier covers your phone if it gets lost or stolen, along with covering accidental physical or liquid damage. This plan is going to run you an additional $7.15 a month, with the option to tack on the 12-month extended warranty, bringing your monthly cost to a slightly discounted $9.
The final, and most comprehensive, plan offered through Verizon is its Total Mobile Protection plan. On top of the Wireless Phone Protection and the extended warranty that is included in the tier below, you also get a “Tech Coach” for in-depth technical assistance. This coach can help with much more than just your phone, providing assistance for other technical issues you may have in your home including laptops, routers, TVs, and more.
This seems like a pretty consumer friendly option being offered by Verizon here. If you think you made a mistake by forgoing the insurance, then you can easily remedy that mistake now. If you are interested in adding on any of this extra protection, open enrollment started yesterday and is running all the way through March 10th.
