Xiaomi today took the wraps off of a new and improved Redmi Note 3 featuring a Snapdragon 650 processor. The company announced a new Redmi Note 3 back in November, but this upgraded variant is headed exclusively to the Chinese market.
This new smartphone comes sporting a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, a massive 4,000mAh battery and Xiaomi’s proprietary Sunlight Display technology. It also comes with the 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor and support for 4G connectivity.
Lastly, it comes in the standard two configuration: 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM or 32GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. With the Snapdragon 650 processor, this Redmi Note 3 is a tad pricier than the MediaTek version, starting at ¥999 (USD$150) for the former configuration. Pricing details hasn’t been provided on the latter model yet, though.
The Snapdragon 650 processor makes this a very capable smartphone. Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn’t have any plans to bring it outside of China. However, to celebrate the launch of the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi is looking for 100 Mi fans to participate in the Redmi Note 3 Explorer program. This giveaway will end on January 18, and winners will be posted on January 31.
Any Xiaomi fans in China have plans for purchasing an upgraded Redmi Note 3?
