Xiaomi uploaded a teaser image on Weibo yesterday that revealed the release date of its upcoming Redmi 3 smartphone. Xiaomi also decided to tell us some of the device’s specifications.
Thanks to Xiaomi’s teaser, we’re able to conclude that the Redmi 3 will release on January 12. It was only a week ago that the handset received its certification from the Chinese regulatory TENNA. In an even earlier report, we got a glimpse of the likelihood of specifications. We knew it wasn’t going to be long before the official unveiling was set forth and now we have confirmation.
Some specifications include a 5-inch 720p display, an octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. As for the device’s cameras, we’re expecting a 13MP rear-facing lens and a 5MP front-facing lens. 16GB of onboard storage should be included along with the capability of expanding it via a built-in microSD card slot. The device is also rumored to include a monster 4,000mAh battery and support 4G LTE networks with dual-SIM capability. Android 5.1 will run the house with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 7.1 on top.
Perhaps the best feature of the Redmi 3 is its metal design. Considering that the price is said to be around $100 USD, the premium design has to be one of the device’s stand out features for its class. We’ll find out all the official details on Tuesday.
