Xiaomi’s Redmi 3 is a $100 smartphone with a premium design and impressive specs

Xiaomi’s newly announced Redmi 3 is one of the best smartphones in the $100 category, offering an extremely premium metal design and some pretty decent hardware behind it. Xiaomi is known for affordable devices, but this one really takes the crown of the budget segment, at least in China.

The Redmi 3 sports an extremely beefy 4,100 mAh battery, a dual-SIM card setup, and a microSD card slot. The other hardware isn’t flagship level, but with a Snapdragon 616, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 5-inch 720p display, and some very capable cameras, it’s nothing to sneeze at, especially in this price range.

The device goes up for preorder at 10 AM tomorrow in gold, silver, or gray for 699 yuan. It’ll probably sell out quickly, like many of Xiaomi’s devices, so get your credit card ready if you want to and are able to buy one.
