A slide has surfaced revealing some important details about Samsung’s new flagship smartphone models.
Based on this leaked slide, both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge may have locked-in SIM cards. This means that once you purchase the phone from a carrier, you may be locked to that carrier for life. However, don’t be too quick to the punch, this will only be for the carrier models and will not affect those unlocked.
When a user buys one of the two smartphones from a carrier, the first SIM they activate inside it will also be the last SIM they activate inside it. This is done by the installment of software upon registering the device for the first time. No carrier has done anything like this before, making these the very first. This slide informs carrier employees that they must first put a SIM card into the phone before they register it, otherwise they’ll have set up the device all over again. This could put Samsung in total charge of selling the unlocked units.
