With Mobile World Congress 2016 looming large on the horizon, excitement levels are at a high while we wait for the LG G5, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets to be announced. That doesn’t mean that current handsets have ceased to exist, though, with today’s news of Samsung updating the Note 5 (SM-N920C) to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
The update has gone live in Cambodia (of all places) for the Note 5 (model SM-N920C), with build number N920CXXU2BPB6 and change list number 110166628, if that means anything to you. The update includes Marshmallow features such as the power-saving Doze and native fingerprint functionality. With Samsung being Samsung, naturally the Korean handset maker will also include some improvements it has developed in-house, such as ad-blocking support, a Secret Mode for its browser, as well as Cross App functionality that allows selected apps to interact with each other.
The Marshmallow update should be rolling out to eligible devices via OTA as we speak. But, if you are in Cambodia and your Note 5 (N920C) hasn’t received a notification just yet, it may be worth navigating your way to Settings/ About Device and tapping Software Update to check if the OTA is available. If it isn’t, don’t worry, the updates usually get sent out in stages. And, if you just can’t wait, you can always download the firmware directly from SamMobile which comes in at around 1.9GB.
