We’re getting further evidence that the LG G5 will sport a unique modular design, as we’re seeing the LG G5’s purported battery module retail box leak online.
The retail box doesn’t giveaway much, other than further confirming that the LG G5 will have that modular design. What’s disconcerting is that the battery doesn’t look very large, raising concerns that it won’t feature a large capacity, such as, 3,000mAh. However, considering that the battery will be replaceable and it can go from 0 to an almost full charge in just minutes, that shouldn’t be a huge problem for too many.
Keep in mind that the smartphone will be nothing like Google’s Project Ara. Instead, only a few components will be modular, allowing consumers to have much more control and ability to customize their smartphone to what they feel is important to them. For instance, the alleged LG Cam Plus module would put camera features front and center while the digital audio chip (DAC) module would put a focus on higher quality sound.
We can speculate all we want about the LG G5, but in reality, we only have three more days to wait until LG officially takes the wraps off of its new flagship. The company has already confirmed an always-on display for the smartphone, as well as a secondary display. Not only that, but Qualcomm has confirmed that it’ll be running a Snapdragon 820 processor.
Sit tight, folks, only a few more days to go.
