Yes, the LG G5 will have a secondary display

Who else but Evan Blass would reveal that the LG G5 will have two displays?

Tonight, it was confirmed by Blass that the G5 will match its unofficial predecessor, the LG V10, in the number of displays featured. The G5 will have a secondary display in addition to the primary one found on any other smartphone today. This secondary display allows LG to provide app shortcuts, display notifications, and offer extra controls. With the V10, the secondary display also had a low-power state which enabled always-on functionality. That same functionality will be introduced to the bigger display for the G5, giving the G5 an always-on display just like the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition. It’s also expected LG will finally switch over to OLED technology to maximize the G5’s battery life. Always-on displays benefit from OLED technology because individual pixels can be activated rather than an entire panel.

The source also stated the G5 will have a wide-angle dual-lens, which the new X Cam has. It’s apparently why LG did not share an image of the back of the X Cam. The company doesn’t want to spoil the surprise for Sunday’s MWC 2016 event; LG will debut the G5 on February 21 at 8:00AM ET. Later that day, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge at 1:00PM ET.

Do you have a wish list of your own for the LG G5? Our Doug Demagistris put together his in a feature published Monday on Talk Android.
