NextVR and Fox Sports have teamed up to offer a one-of-a-kind experience for anyone interested in watching the Daytona 500 this year. The race will be streamed in virtual reality from the view of the pit crew, the stands, the starting line, and the middle of the infield to anyone with a Gear VR and compatible phone.
We’ve seen a few other sporting events shot and streamed in virtual reality before, but this experience marks the beginning of a five year deal between the two companies, which is great for NextVR. The company has already given the VR treatment to presidential debates, boxing matches, and NBA games, and they’ll be able to do that to more and more events over the next few years.
The Daytona 500 is on Sunday, February 21st at 1 PM EST, and streaming it in VR is free.
