A new option appears to be rolling out to the Google Now app that gives users a new tool to customize the cards that appear. The change primarily involves the section on “Stories to Read” which is mostly built based on other interests you have indicated you have as well as your web browsing history. The new change adds an option to block cards from specific sources.
When you head to the other stories to read section in Google Now, you can click on the overflow menu for the different stories to access several options. This includes standard items like marking a story as being “Done” or going to the Google Now customization settings or even turning off the stories to read section.
Depending on the story, users may also get an option to indicate they are not interested in a particular subject, like “Not interested in NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship.” Depending on the item, that may or may not be a good solution though.
Some users are now getting an additional option in the overflow menu that reads “Not interested in stories from ________” where the blank indicates the source of the story. This means a user could continue to get updates on a particular subject, like March Madness, but they could eliminate cards from a source they do not particularly care for.
The change was initially spotted by a Reddit user. However, based on the ensuing discussion it looks like the change is still in the process of rolling out to users. This tweak to Google Now joins an experiment with a homescreen widget driven by Google Now that surfaced this week.
