Google’s “On Ice” is a new 360-degree short film on YouTube

Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 11.14.58 PMGoogle’s ATAP division has dropped a new short film onto YouTube that promotes the platform’s new 360 degree video experience. It’s a Spotlight Story, so it’s only about 30 seconds long, but it’s a well animated, light-hearted skit.

“On Ice” is a short movie about ice skating that ends with the protagonist hiding from a bear. It’s funny, especially if you’re a fan of Pixar or other animated movies. But the real treat here is that if you’re using the YouTube app, you can move your device around to experience the movie in a full 360 degrees, or if you’d rather go the Google Cardboard route, it supports VR viewing, too.

You can check out the video below, although if you want to play with the 360 degree aspect, you’ll want to open it in the YouTube app on your phone.
