At Google I/O 2016, the first edition of a new annual awards ceremony will be held. The 2016 Google Play Awards honors the developer community by giving out awards to apps and games nominated in ten categories.

First-class implementation of material design concepts that deliver an immersive and innovative user experience.
Best Use of Google Play Game Services
High quality games with several strong GPGS feature implementations.
Early Adopter
Early adopter of a nascent technology or platform, providing a delightful user experience.
Go Global
Apps or games with great localization and culturalization, or subject matter appeal, across multiple regions.
Most Innovative
Apps or games offering a highly engaging novelty experience or benefit.
Best App
A true representation of beautiful design, intuitive UX and high user appeal, quality and rating.
Best Game
Games with strong mechanics, informative tutorial, broad appeal and tasteful design.
Apps and games nominated in multiple categories include Robinhood, Alphabear, and Fast like a Fox, and The Fabulous.
The ceremony for 2016 Google Play Awards will be streamed live on May 19 at 10:00PM ET.
