In case you haven’t realized, 360-degree video is fast becoming a thing in 2016. Google launched 360-degree live video streaming and spatial audio to YouTube a couple of days ago, as well as its VR View platform that makes it easy for developers to embed VR content into websites and apps back in March. If you caught the trailer for its 360-degree short live-action film called Help on YouTube, then you may want to join us after the break to watch the full 5-minute video.

Set in Los Angeles after a meteor shower has hit the city, Help follows a young woman trying to escape an alien life force, that looks a little Godzilla-like. You’ll get to see the woman, and the police officer aiding her escape, run for their lives, as well as bridges being torn down, helicopter gunships firing on the alien, and then the conclusion. While it’s just a short 5-minute film, Help features a whole bunch of special effects and is a fascinating glimpse into the future of film.

Naturally you can watch the short, immersive film on your Android device with Google’s Cardboard viewer or on your Android smartphone by moving the device around to view the virtual world. iOS users can view Help by downloading the Google Spotlight Stories app from iTunes. If you don’t have a mobile device to hand, you can always watch via a browser, where you can use the mouse to look around. You can download the Google Spotlight Stories app for Android by clicking the link below.
