Following months of leaks, rumors and speculation, ASUS has just unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone in Brazil. Surprisingly, the Taiwanese company has decided to ditch its ZenFone branding in favor of a new naming arrangement. As part of the labeling system, the firm will assign a unique name to each of its future handsets.
This latest device has been tagged the ASUS Live and at first glance its internals appear to resemble the ZenFone Go, which launched back in August 2015, with its 5-inch 720p display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable internal storage, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel selfie snapper and 2,070mAh battery.
As the Live is currently only available to purchase in South America, it comes as no surprise to learn that it features dual-SIM support. However, you could have knocked us down with a feather when we discovered the handset lacks LTE compatibility. The Moto G (2015), which is expected to be the Live’s main competitor in the Brazilian market, is only slightly more expensive and bundles the required bands for 4G connectivity.
The Live is available in three colorways — Blue, Pink and Yellow — and carries a price tag of $210 in the region.
