Sony announced today that its Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact will be coming to the US in February.
The Xperia Z5 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and Sony’s signature 23-megapixel Exmor sensor. In contrast, the Xperia Z5 Compact has a smaller 4.6-inch 720p display and just 2GB of RAM.
The company also plans on launching the Xperia Z5 in a pink color in February 2016 for Valentine’s Day, though availability details still remain unknown.
While there aren’t any official listings of the Xperia Z5 or Xperia Z5 Compact out yet, both devices will probably be available through online stores like Amazon and Newegg. Sony won’t be selling them directly, as the company shut down its online store last year.
We don’t have all the details yet, but the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will run for $600 and $500, respectively. They will come unlocked and will support GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile.
Unfortunately, Sony hasn’t unveiled any plans to bring the Xperia Z5 Premium to the US market, which has been making waves due to its immersive 4K display. It has a 5.5-inch 4K display with a pixel density of 806ppi, as well as a 3,430mAh battery to keep things powered.
While there’s no indication that Sony will bring the Xperia Z5 Premium to the US, its 4K display would certainly be a hot seller.
In the meantime, consumers will have to settle for a Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact. We’ll be sure to let everyone know where those two smartphones are available when Sony offers up some more details next month.
