Twitter on Tuesday announced that it is starting to allow advertisers to use conversational ads.
According to Twitter, conversational ads are available in beta for “select advertisers in all markets.” No mention was made of when conversational ads might be generally available.
Conversational ads are designed to increase brand engagement through the use of “call to action buttons.” When the button is tapped, “the Tweet composer opens with a pre-populated brand message accompanied by the creative and hashtag buttons. The consumer can then personalize the Tweet and share it with his or her followers.”
After the Tweet is sent, the consumer gets a thank you message from the brand.
Twitter has reportedly received praise from some of the initial users of conversational ads. Says Mark Childs, CMO of Samsung Electronics Canada:
“As one of the first global brands to use Twitter’s new conversational ad unit, we’re excited by the opportunity to initiate more meaningful conversation. To stay ahead of the curve, it’s important to continuously evolve our social media engagement strategies to help our fans get closer to the Samsung Canada brand.”
