A mysterious Huawei device just ran through some tests on Geekbench. Sources say that the unknown device is the upcoming Huawei P9.

Huawei’s sales have been off the charts lately. At CES 2016, the company unveiled the Honor 5X and showcased the Mate 8. As it turns out, Huawei users may be in for another treat. The Huawei P9 is inching closer towards a launch, perhaps sometime around March.

Just this past week, an unknown Huawei device passed through Geekbench posting some impressive scores. The multi-core being the stunner at a score of 7313. The single-core test was also exceptional at a score of 2018. Sources predict that this is indeed the P9.

The Huawei P9 should include a 5.2-inch screen and a Kirin 950 processor composed of an octa-core CPU and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Backing it will be a whopping 4GB of RAM for multitasking. These chipsets have combined to post incredible numbers, topping nearly every Android powered device on the market. Previous rumors indicated that the device would run Android 6.0 and sport a physical home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor.

Huawei is hoping that its new lineup of phones is enough to surpass Apple in 2016 and become the second largest smartphone vendor in the world. It’s a pretty bold goal, but anything can happen if Huawei keeps the momentum moving. We’ll keep an eye out for more details regarding Huawei’s next device and keep you posted.
