A new ruggedized smartphone just made its way to Verizon! The Cat S50c runs Android Lollipop and is super durable.
Cat is well-known for its construction business but just made a smartphone. Crazy right? Cat has actually released smartphones before, however, this is the first time a device works with Big Red’s wireless network.
The Cat S50c is built for durability, and we mean it when we say it. The design features a ruggedized build for withstanding just about anything that comes its way. On the hardware front, it packs a 4.7-inch HD display with a kick. Embedded into the device’s screen are extra sensors that make it super sensitive and responsive. Cat claims that you can use the device with gloves no problem. Cat also mentioned that it works when your fingers are wet.
Powering the S50c is a 1.2GHz processor backed with 1GB of RAM. The device also incorporates an 8MP rear-facing camera. Cat decided to go with 8GB of internal storage, however, the company also included a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Cat has promised a whopping 25 hours of talk time or 38 days of standby time with its sealed 2630mAh battery. Additionally, Cat included an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
