With only a few days left until Samsung’s big reveal of their new flagship smartphones, we have some new details emerging about the camera setup and the speakers that Samsung is expected to announce. We have already seen several rumors and leaked information indicating Samsung was pulling back on the camera module when it comes to the number of megapixels. At the same time, they have been promising better performance thanks to a new f/1.7 aperture lens and something Samsung is calling BRITECELL technology. More details about how Samsung is going to work their photography magic has surfaced thanks to a new listing on the Zauba web site.
The listing in the Zauba database confirm the camera will be a 12MP unit. Two new pieces of information about the sensor have come to light. The sensor will be a 1/2.5 unit and will capture individual pixel sizes of 1.4-microns. That is much larger than the Galaxy S6 that came with a 1.12-micron pixel size. This larger size means the sensor will be able to capture higher-quality images thanks to being able to collect more light.
The other bit of information gleaned from the Zauba listing is that the devices will have a 1.2-watt speaker and a 1.5-watt speaker. Presumably the 1.2-watt speaker will be the earpiece speaker while the other one is the loudspeaker. Indications are that Samsung has developed software so that both speakers are utilized when playing media to improve the available volume.
