With Marshmallow rollouts well underway for the Alcatel Idol 3, HTC One M8, HTC One M9, LG G4 and Moto G (2015), Telus has today published a new roadmap for the next batch of devices it plans to push the long-awaited upgrade to. The table reveals that the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 head the next set of candidates to receive the firmware on March 9. The operator will then distribute the update to the Galaxy S6 Edge and LG G3 on March 16, followed by the standard Galaxy S6 on April 13.
Unfortunately, Telus did stipulate that these dates are “approximate” and are “subject to change”. However, we assume that they are pretty accurate as the network published the exact same statement last month, and then went on to meet all of the self-imposed deadlines. That being said, it’s quite possible that some hiccups may occur when porting the firmware to Samsung-branded devices as they are notorious for requiring additional optimizations in order to ensure the software plays nicely with all the added functionality that both the manufacturer and carrier pre-load onto the units.
Just in case you need a refresher on what Marshmallow brings to the table, here’s a quick summary: greater control over app permissions, the ability to complete purchases from the Play Store and online marketplaces using your fingerprint, Android Pay and a redesigned application drawer, which makes it easier than ever to find the apps you’re looking for whilst on the go.
