Xiaomi’s Mi 4S had a strong first day of sales, estimates break the 200,000 mark

xiaomi mi 4sXiaomi’s Mi 4S went on sale alongside the Mi 5 yesterday, and while it didn’t kick the doors in, it still had a pretty solid launch day as far as volume goes. There aren’t exact figures, but estimates put the 4S selling around 200,000 units within the first 24 hours of being available.

One retailer said they moved 50k units from their online site and another 65k to offline stores, but Xiaomi was also selling the phone directly, which would likely account for most of the sales. The company hasn’t released any data just yet, but for a $260 phone with a Snapdragon 808 and fingerprint scanner, it’s one of the best deals on any phone so far this year.

Like always, this device was only sold in China on launch, but Xiaomi has plans to expand to the US and other major markets eventually. Hopefully those plans happen sooner rather than later.
