On Monday, podcasts went live on Google Play. Now your episodic listening habits can be satisfied by using the same digital hub that stores apps, games, movies, and music. But if you just want the quickest way possible to listen to podcasts, the Google app might just be your best avenue. Today, the Google app went live with in-app playback for podcasts after just searching the name of the show.
Hit the break for details.
Once you search the name of the show, the Google app will display search results that include the last three episodes of that podcast. Select an episode and it will begin playing on your device with usual controls accessible at the bottom of your screen. The Google app allows you to pause, play, rewind, and fast-forward an episode just like Google Play Music or other podcast-ready apps would. Even if you need to multitask, this method of playing is solid. Google says you can still browse the web on your phone or turn off your screen while a podcast is playing.
Which podcasts should you be listening to? Our very own Talk Android Podcast at the very least! The podcast produced right here can be watched or listened to on YouTube, SoundCloud, Google Play, Pocket Casts, TuneIn, and Stitcher.
To start listening to the Talk Android Podcast and other podcasts in the Google app, make sure your version is updated. The feature could then take a few days to go live on your device.
