Triby is the first third-party Alexa-enabled speaker

Invoxia_Triby_Amazon_Alexa_speaker_grey_frontFor those of you who don’t know, Amazon has built-up a technology called Alexa Voice Service (AVS). This is what provides the functionality of an Amazon Echo speaker. Amazon recently opened AVS to third-parties, letting them to create their own Alex-equipped speakers. Triby is the first one, and it’s now available on Amazon.

Triby is an Alexa-enabled portable speaker built by Invoxia. The speaker is capable of performing functions just like you would on Amazon’s Echo speaker. This means you can ask it questions asking for say the weather, or current sports scores. You can also stream music and use it to control your smart home devices

The major difference between Triby and Amazon’s original Echo speaker is that Triby is portable, powered off of a battery. Therefore you’ll have to charge it to use it away from a power source and connect it to a Wi-Fi network to gain the full functionality it has. Triby also has a display that users can interact with, which isn’t present on Amazon’s Echo speaker.

Triby is available to purchase on Amazon right now for $169. It comes in four colors including Cool Grey (pictured above), Blue, Red, and Yellow.
